Triumph of Unity
In "Triumph of Unity" the artists observe Germany as a space, society, and intersubjective narrative. From 2015 to 2017, the duo traveled on Germany's streets, encountering people in cities and rural areas, in the East and West, in places that appear in the headlines and in those about which little is read. Portraits, everyday scenes, documented political events stand opposite an archive of news reports from the Tagesschau during the same period.
While the incessant circulation of undated, unattributed information in news tickers and digital streams undermines the last coherent stories about the world, the duo treats the street as their own inexhaustible news feed. The direct encounter and engagement with others, the empowerment beyond established structures and ideas of image representation, are central motivations for "Triumph of Unity".
